Leuven gets bicycle portal according to Dutch model

The Belgian city Leuven makes it easier for owners to find a bicycle or scooter that has been removed. Based on Sigmax CityControl and PerfectView, the city is developing a new website (bycicle portal) which shows the vehicles that are transported by enforcers.

The city of Leuven devoped the new website according to the Dutch model. Several Dutch customers of Sigmax CityControl use such a website to allow owners to search for their verhicles which were no longer on the originally parked spot after returning from a trip or visit.

By setting up www.verlorenofgevonden.be Leuven points out the problem that only a few bicycles collected by enforcers return to the owner. A possible explanation for this is that many bicycle owners do not know that the bicycle has been removed. For example, it may be that the period of the label affixed to the bicycle has expired as a reminder of movement.

In the Flemish part of Belgium, there is a central website for found bicycles (www.gevondenfietsen.be), but according to news site ‘De Standaard‘, this platform is no longer maintained by the province of Antwerp. With a website linked to Sigmax CityControl and PerfectView CRM, owners can find their scooter or bicycle by searching on brand, type, color and missing date. In the Netherlands, around 30,000 bicycles are currently waiting for their return to the owner via www.verlorenofgevonden.nl.
